The best listener in the room says nothing at all.
Ponder started at a kitchen table, with one bug, one deadline and one bath duck borrowed from a niece. Explaining the code to the duck, line by line, found the bug before the kettle boiled.
Since then we have made it our whole job: ducks that sit still, keep eye contact and never, ever suggest a rewrite. Every one is designed in our studio, squeezed for quality and sent out in a box with enough room to breathe.
We still borrow the niece's duck for important releases. She has asked for it back. We are thinking about it.
Three rules every Ponder duck lives by.
Listen first
A duck never finishes your sentence. You finish it, and that's usually where the answer is.
No judgement
Variable called thing2? Function 400 lines long? The duck has seen worse. The duck says nothing.
Built to last
Our ducks outlive frameworks, laptops and most side projects. Squeeze-tested, bath-tested, deadline-tested.
Meet the flock.
Four ducks, four personalities, one shared vow of silence.
